Sox Sweep Twins In 3 Hour Delay Game

Twins drop fifth straight, 5-1 to Red Sox
The Red Sox swept and beat the Twins 5-1 Sunday, and Sunday night technically. The game started off scoreless through 1 and through 3, the Sox led 2-0 from a home run by Middlebrooks and Napoli's RBI.  Then in the 5th, the Twins got on the board on an unearned run making it 3-1. Lackey came in to pitch the 6th, having given up only 1 hit and that was it for him and the game, well until 3 hours later, as the grounds crew came on and the game was in rain delay. The game looked as if it was going to be be called off, as the Sox started packing their equipment, but hey what'ya know, the rain stopped, sun came out, and the the teams went back on to the field, 3 HOURS LATER. The rest of the game was a bit weird. The Twins would leave bases loaded in the 8th, and then in the top 9th, Pedroia technically hit a home run, that went off Twins outfielder, Willingham, and into the stands, therefore it being a home run because it did not touch the ground. Tazawa came into the 9th to finish the game, in a non save situation. He did OK, giving up 2 hits, but striking out 2. Lackey did great going 6 innings pitched, giving up 1 hit, 1 unearned run, and striking out 5, and if it wasn't for the rain delay he'd probably go back in. Ortiz, Pedroia, and Nava all went 2-5 yesterday. Pedroia had 3 RBI's on the day/night. Ellsbury sat out his first game of the season, giving him a rest.

Pedroia has been on fire lately, earning a .343 batting average, and is currently riding an 11 game hit streak. And suddenly, the Sox look like the Sox we all knew in April, but there is still a long way too go, so I won't get ahead of myself. They are also 5-1 this road trip, 6-4 in their last 10 games now, AND are on a 5 game win streak. Anyways, the Red Sox will face the White Sox in a 4 game series, and then will head back to Boston for a 6 game home stand, and then will go to Philly, in a 4 game series, 2 at home, and 2 at Philly. Anyways, Lester will be on the mound tonight, and will try to go 7-0.
