Red Sox Lose Both Games, Double Header Recap

Santana goes 7 innings, Royals top Sox 4-2 Kansas City Royals v Boston Red Sox - Game Two

First Game: The Red Sox lost the first game 4-2. Dempster once again did not do bad, he pitched a quality start. He fanned 8 batters, walked 3, gave up 4 earned runs on 6 hits, including one home run he let up. He still remains winless with the Sox, having an 0-2 record. Also, some things to mention is that Ortiz went 3 for 4 with 1 RBI. It was a mostly quiet game and there wasn't too much action.

Second Game: Prospect pitcher Allen Webster made his major league debut this game, and to me he wasn't bad. He got off to shaky start and his first major league pitch was driven off the monster for a double. After that Pedro Ciraco made an error and a run would score. Once he got to the 2nd inning he calmed down though and continued to mow down their lineup... UNTIL the 5th inning when the Royals would hit 2 solo home runs off Webster. Webster's final stats were, 6 innings pitched, 2 earned runs off 5 hits, 1 walk, and 5 strikeouts. Not bad, not bad... Anyways the Red Sox would lead 4-3 up until the 8th inning when Koji Uehara gave up a solo home run, and his first earned run of the season, and the Royals would tie it up 4-4. The Red Sox went to extra innings until the 10th inning. Andrew Miller came in for relief and walked in a run, and the Royals would take a 5-4 lead. The Red Sox would have Salty, Middlebrooks, and Carp in the bottom of the 10th but they would all strike out and the Red Sox would lose 5-4 in 10 innings.

So the Sox dropped 2 in a double header, these were both very tough losses. We had the second game for most of the game but Uehara who has done great this season decides to do bad and give up a home run in his most important game so far this season in relief. Anyways, the Red Sox will look to face Oakland in a 3 game series for the next few days. After that, the Houston Astros will come to Boston for the Red Sox to get 4 easy wins in a 4 game series, yeah I said it! Well, really, the Red Sox will be looking to get back on track tomorrow.
