Bruins Penalty Kill Blows Lead, Lose 3-2 in OT

(Behind two goals from Mike Green, the Bruins lose to the Capitols in overtime)

The Bruins came out with their best start in a while, but it didn't last. Halfway through the first period, Lucic put a shot on net that was probably going wide, but it bounced off of a Capital skate and went in and Lucic was credited with the goal. Then in the second, it's Lucic again carrying the puck through the neutral zone and dropping it behing for Andrew Ference who then fired a quick wrist shot that beat Braden Holtby.

Then we go to the third.

The Bruins penalty kill has been number 1 in the NHL almost the whole season, but when you give the number 1 power play in the NHL too many opportunities, they are going to convert eventually, and that's exactly what happened. With back to back penalties by the Bruins, the Capitals scored a goal in each, both by Mike Green, to tie the score at 2. The Bruins were ending regulation time on the power play. Could they convert and win the game, of course not, and to overtime we go. In overtime, the closest chance we got was when Chris Kelly hit the post, and that was really the closest we got, because not long after that, Chara gets called for hooking and the Caps get another power play, and again they didn't fail to convert and the Bruins fell 3-2. Plus, with Montreal beating Toronto, we are now 4th in the East and facing a must win game if we want to finish 2nd. My next post will talk about if I would rather have us win or lose this game.
