BREAKING: Patriots Sign QB Tom Brady To 3 Year Extension Contract

Tom Brady has won 3 Super Bowls, has been a 2 time MVP, and an eight time Pro Bowler in his career, all with the Patriots.

The Patriots have signed quarter back Tom Brady to a 3 year extension contract that will keep him with the Pats until he is 40, up to 2017. Well, there you have it, Brady is pretty much a Patriot for life, because I'm sure the Pats won't get rid of Brady through a trade in the future. The deal is worth $27 million, and he will get paid a $3 million signing bonus. In addition, he will get salaries of $7 million in 2015, $8 million in 2016, and $9 million in 2017.

Brady turns 40 on August 3, 2017, and he has made it clear that he wants to play up until at least 40 years old, which will be done with the Pats.

Over the next 5 years, including the salaries, Brady will get paid $13.8 million in 2013, $14.8 million in 2014,  $13 million in 2015, $14 million in 2016, and $15 million in 2017. Sheesh, and to think some MLB pitchers get signed to $175 million deals, and that some actually want to get paid $200 million. This extension will save the Pats in salary cap.

So it's great the Patriots signed Brady to a 3 year extension, because this most likely guarantees he will be a Patriot for life, once he retires around age 40. Also, with the Patriots saving some money, this can now pursue/push them to sign Wes Welker, who the Pats are starting to talk contracts with him. Hopefully they do sign Welker because he should remain a Patriot and he is one of the best wide receivers in the game today.
