Patriots Find Replacement, Sign Danny Amendola

The Patriots have found a replacement for ex-patriot wide receiver, Wes Welker, and that is Danny Amendola, who had an OK season with the St. Louis Rams this year. The deal for Amendola is worth $31 million and is a 5 year deal. There's something that's unique about this deal, and it's that Amendola will be paid close to the same amount of money per year as Wes Welker. Welker is expected to get $6 million a year while Amendola is expected to get $6.1 million a year. Is this a message to Wes Welker? Coincidence? I think not...

Anyways, Amendola is not as good as Welker but he's expected to help out the Pats in the receive role. This season, Amendola caught for 666 yards on 63 receptions, along with 3 touchdowns. Injuries limited his season and he missed 5 games in 2012, and almost the whole 2011 season.

Let's compare Amendola and Welker. Amendola has a bit more speed, but he can not compare to Tom Brady and Welker's match up. Amendola has also gotten more injuries over the past seasons. Welker only missed 3 games since 2005, which valued us a lot.

So, now the Patriots got Amendola, Lloyd, Hernandez, and Gronk on their receivers/tight end list. It has been known that a lot of players don't succeed after they leave the Patriots, most likely because we have Tom Brady and we are a great team. With Tom Brady throwing to Amendola this season, we might be able to turn him into a good receiver, but who really knows. We'll have to see when the season starts. All I know is that the Patriots will have some options and Amendola can really help fill the receiver spot. I'm happy Welker is gone, I'm glad he's gone, unloyal piece of shit. Na, I can't say that about him...
