Winter Meetings Over - Red Sox Sign Koji Uehara

Hey Guys!

Koji Uehara                                   Junichi Tazawa

The Red Sox have signed another free agent whose name is Koji Uehara to a 1 year deal that is pending a physical. So yes the name isn't popular but he's sort of like Junichi Tazawa except an age difference. He and Tazawa were great relievers last season but  they were never really mentioned. They are also both Japanese! I  just to want to compare Uehara and Tazawa's stats because they both did really good.

Koji Uehara
1.75 ERA - 0-0 Record - 37 Games - 36 Innings - 43 Strikeouts

Junichi Tazawa
1.43 ERA - 1-1 Record - 37 Games - 44 Innings Pitched - 45 Strikeouts

So yeah Tazawa had a better ERA and more innings pitched but they are similar pitches. ERA's both in the 1's, same amount of games pitched, around the same amount of innings pitched, and almost the same amount of strikeouts. It's going to be great having 2 great Japanese relievers who have are expected to perform very good this year. I think they are going to be to the core of our bullpen. Tazawa was always good at getting out of situations with men on base and Uehara, I can't say much because I never saw him pitch since he was on the Rangers this year.

Now let's talk about the Winter Meetings and it's recap. The Winter Meetings were a big event for the Red Sox. They signed Mike Napoli, Shane Victorino, and Koji Uehara. They also met with free agent outfielder Josh Hamilton and discussed possible signings. They also had to deal with the Jacoby Ellsbury rumors about him being traded. Well luckily, Cherington made it clear that they did not want to trade Ellsbury. Anyways, a lot happened for the Red Sox. What do you think about the Winter Meetings and how was it for the Red Sox? Do you think signing Koji Uehara is a good idea?
