Red Sox Pound Rays 9-2
The Red Sox beat the Rays 9-2 Wednesday night, ending their 3 game skid. The bats were here for this game totaling 10 hits and 9 runs, including 2 home runs. The Sox had an 8 run 3rd inning in which helped them mostly. In that inning, Stephen Drew hit a 2 out GRAND SLAM, his 2nd of his career, and that basically secured the lead for the Sox. The game remained 8-2 until the top of the 8th, when Middlebrooks, who was been doing good lately, homered to opposite field, right field, giving us the 9-2 lead. Jose De La Torre, who made his major league debut last Sunday, pitched a scoreless 9th, with 2 strikeouts, in a 1-2-3 inning. Lester did good, a solid start, going 7 innings pitched, giving up 8 hits, 2 runs, and getting 5 strikeouts, picking up his 6th win of the year, being 6-0. Drew went 2-3 with 4 RBI's, Middlebrooks went 2-4 with an RBI, and Pedroia went 2-5 with an RBI.
This game was a great game for the slumping Sox, and it showed who they are. They proved they can be a good team and if they keep playing like this, they'll rise back top to 1st in the division. Anyways, Doubrant will get the nod for tonight's game to pitch in the series finale with the Rays, hopefully he does good...
