Red Sox Easily Win Season Opener Against Yankees, 8-2
The baseball season has finally started! Last night it started off with Houston beating Texas by a score of 8-2, now that was a surprise. Anyway, so the Red Sox opened their first game this season against the Yankees at Yankee Stadium. The Red Sox got past the first inning nicely with no runs, something they didn't do last year, and then heading to the top of the 2nd inning, they scored 4 runs. The Yankees got 2 runs in the 4th inning, Boston would score one more in the 7th inning, and 3 more in the 9th inning, to secure the win.
Pitching
Jon Lester: 5 Innings pitched, 5 hits let up, 2 earned runs, 2 walks, 7 strikeouts
Koji Uehara: 1 Inning pitched, 0 hits let up
Andrew Miller: 0.2 Innings pitched, 0 hits let up, 2 walks, 2 strikeouts
Andrew Bailey: 0.1 Innings pitched, 0 hits let up, 1 strikeout
Junichi Tazawa: 1 Inning pitched, 1 hit let up
Joel Hanrahan: 1 Inning pitched, 0 hits let up
Hitting
Jacoby Ellsbury CF: 3-6, 2 RBI's
Shane Victorino RF: 2-6, 3 RBI's, 1 Strikeout
Dustin Pedroia 2B: 2-6, 1 RBI,
Mike Napoli 1B: 0-5, 2 Strikeouts
Will Middlebrooks 3B: 0-4, 1 Walk, 2 Strikeouts
Jarrod Saltalamachhia C: 1-2, 3 Walks, 1 Strikeout
Jonny Gomes DH: 2-4, 1 Walk
Jackie Bradley Jr. LF: 0-2, 1 RBI, 3 Walks, 1 Strikeout
Jose Iglesias SS: 3-5, 1 RBI, 1 Strikeout
So there is a lot to talk about. Two rookies, Iglesias and Bradley did great in their opening day debuts. Even though Bradley didn't get hits, he showed great patience at the plate. Napoli did not do good in his Red Sox debut going 0 for 5. Middlebrooks has been dealing with the flu and trying to battle through it, and he had a fever of 102. Though Victorino and Gomes did good in their Red Sox debut. Also, Ellsbury did good getting 3 hits. Anyways, the Red Sox will face the Yankees for 2 more games to finish the series, let's get the sweep!
