So during Wednesday night's game, Red Sox third baseman Will Middlebrooks injured his wrist swinging on a high pitch, that was kind of close to him, but did not hit him. Middlebrooks took a weird swing and then went to the dugout to sit out the game.
Last year in August, Middlebrooks injured his wrist from being hit by a ball on the wrist, which would end up being broken. So obviously, his last injury could have affected this one, but so far this injury is not a major problem. He went to a doctor to get his wrist checked out, and everything looked fine according to him and John Farrell. Middlebrooks said that his wrist feels better. He was even taking some swings at batting practice.
So luckily, this was a freak scare injury and he is cleared for baseball activities. Farrell said that Middlebrooks could play in Friday night's spring training game against the Pirates. Middlebrooks plans to wear a protective batting glove soon. Anyways, it's a good thing Middlebrooks did not get injured because the Red Sox don't have too much depth/players that are good that play 3rd, but that doesn't matter anymore.
